Ella Mai surprised fans with the three-track EP '3two' via 10 Summers/Interscope, extending a birthday-release tradition she began with 2024's '3'.

A Birthday Surprise From London's R&B Export

GRAMMY-winning, London-born R&B singer-songwriter Ella Mai has released a surprise EP, *3two*, out now via 10 Summers/Interscope Records, timed to her 32nd birthday.

Three outlets — The Garnette Report, Stanisland Magazine, and Hip Hop Vibe — all report the drop, which arrived without warning alongside a visualizer of behind-the-scenes studio footage.

The three-track project continues a birthday tradition she started in 2024 with her EP *3*, and according to Hip Hop Vibe it centers on love, relationships, and emotional connection. Stanisland notes the irony that the celebratory release opens with what it calls a break-up song.

Inside the Three Tracks

The tracklist runs: "Favourite T-Shirt," "Over and Over," and "All I Know."

Per the outlets, the opener finds Ella cleaning out her closet and stumbling on memories of a past relationship, using the image of a stain on a favorite tee for feelings that refuse to wash away; Stanisland describes it as acoustic-led.

"Over and Over" examines a love that keeps pulling her back in despite high stakes and seemingly nonexistent rules, while closer "All I Know" finds comfort in affection that speaks louder than words.

The Garnette Report and Hip Hop Vibe both note that by the end she would choose her partner in every lifetime.

The Visualizer Fans Are Watching

The release is accompanied by a visualizer featuring behind-the-scenes footage of Ella Mai in the recording studio, which both The Garnette Report and Hip Hop Vibe say offers fans a glimpse into the creative process behind the project.

Rather than a conventional music video, the footage frames the intimate songs with documentary-style studio moments, complementing the EP's themes of memories, complicated romances, and reassurance.

Building on a Breakthrough Year

*3two* caps what the pack describes as a milestone year. Ella unveiled her critically acclaimed third studio album, *Do You Still Love Me?*, in February, spawning the Destiny's Child-interpolating single "Tell Her" and "100," and debuting at No. 44 on the Billboard 200.

She toured South Africa, Asia, and Australia — including Japan's Greenroom Festival, the Seoul Jazz Festival, and FIFA World Cup festivities — before a sold-out 28-date North American *Do You Still Love Me?* Tour that culminated in her Radio City Music Hall debut in August.

In September she headed to Europe and the UK with Nia Smith and Lizzie Berchie.

Why the Tradition Matters

The surprising hook, as Hip Hop Vibe frames it, is the format itself: instead of overwhelming listeners with an extensive tracklist, Ella delivers three focused records twice over — *3* in 2024, *3two* now — letting vocals and songwriting carry the weight.

Stanisland notes the releases land amid growing UK R&B popularity, and Hip Hop Vibe traces her arc from "Boo'd Up," which earned a 2019 GRAMMY for Best R&B Song, through 2018's self-titled debut, 2022's *Heart on My Sleeve* with Roddy Ricch and Latto, and into today.

The title links the new EP to its predecessor, giving the birthday tradition another chapter.
