Oklahoma State beat No. 6 Oregon 39-31 on Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium, the first true stunner of the 2026 college football season. Quarterback Drew Mestemaker totaled 426 yards and three touchdowns, throwing for 317 yards and two scores while rushing for 109 yards and another touchdown. The Cowboys outgained the heavily favored Ducks 554-281, and the win marked coach Eric Morris's first victory at Oklahoma State after the team went 1-11 last season and lost 24-10 to Tulsa in his debut. Oklahoma State entered the game having lost 21 straight games against FBS opponents, including a 69-3 thumping by Oregon last season and a Week 1 loss to Tulsa. Mestemaker bounced back from a poor opener with help from former North Texas teammates: Caleb Hawkins rushed 23 times for 110 yards and a touchdown, and Wyatt Young caught five passes for 121 yards and a score, including a 52-yard catch-and-run that gave Oklahoma State a 24-14 second-quarter lead. Morris told ESPN it may take a while to top the moment, saying he might think about retiring on it — though not retiring.
