Jeremy Renner and his 13-year-old daughter, Ava Berlin Renner, walked the red carpet together on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the 24th annual Alice nella Città film festival in Rome, a rare public outing for the usually private pair.

Yahoo reports the pair posed all smiles at the Auditorium Parco Della Musica, with Renner in a gray suit and Ava in a black top and white skirt. HELLO!

Magazine described a photocall at the Teatro Sistina in which Renner wrapped an affectionate arm around Ava, noting Ava wore a teal-blue satin gown with an off-the-shoulder neckline while her father opted for a tailored navy three-piece suit.

According to Yahoo, Renner was in attendance to accept a special award from the festival's youth jury and to present a masterclass.

The surprise for fans is how grown-up and how present Ava now is — HELLO! points out the teenager is Renner's only child, shared with ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, and rarely appears in public with him. OK!

Magazine reports the Rome appearance capped a father-daughter vacation that Renner documented on his Instagram Story on October 22, with photos of the pair at the Colosseum and posing by a stone fountain with Saint Peter's Basilica in the background.

OK! notes the pair walked arm-in-arm for photographers, with Renner planting a sweet kiss on his daughter — a heartwarming moment outlets say stole the spotlight at the festival.

The festival also doubled as a showcase for Renner's 2025 memoir, My Next Breath, which chronicles his near-fatal January 2023 snowplow accident, when a 14,000-pound snowplow crushed him at his Nevada driveway, leaving him with 38 broken bones and a collapsed lung, per Yahoo.

HELLO! reports Ava contributed an essay to the memoir and recorded it for the audiobook edition.

In a 2024 Parents interview cited by Yahoo, Renner described a role reversal in which Ava cared for him for six months, saying she had to grow up in a lot of ways and that he got to show her what resilience means.

One reveal stands out: asked at the festival whether he would ever direct a film about his accident, Renner said he would leave that to someone else.

Yahoo quotes him telling Cinecittà News that Ava was with him and he had no intention of sacrificing three years of his life away from her, joking that maybe his daughter could take on the directing role — at which Ava reportedly shook her head.

The comment signals Renner's priorities have shifted firmly toward family time over career gambles, even for a project as personal as his own survival story.

After collecting the youth jury award and leading the masterclass, Renner continues promoting My Next Breath, with outlets framing the Rome trip as both a milestone vacation and a festival triumph nearly three years after the New Year's Day 2023 accident. OK!

Magazine quotes Renner on his recovery motivation: "She was reason number one for me to survive... I asked her to wait for me," with Ava replying, "I'm waiting, Dad."

HELLO! notes the Rennervations premiere in April 2023 was his previous red carpet return, walking with a cane — making this easy, smiling Rome outing a quiet marker of how far he has come.
