Wendy's Drops a Real Emo Album with Scene Veterans

Wendy's released the six-track 'Songs to Listen to in a Wendy's Parking Lot,' pairing scene vocalists with producer Matt Squire in a genuine emo record.

On September 23, 2026, Wendy's released a six-song EP titled "Songs to Listen to in a Wendy's Parking Lot," available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and other major streaming platforms. The Columbus Dispatch reports the songs run about 22 minutes in total, per the Spotify listing. Far from a corporate playlist, the project is a credited collaboration between the fast-food chain and Oregon-based Rise Records, according to Loudwire, which notes album credits on streaming sites. The premise leans into a familiar fan behavior: people documenting life's emotional moments from their cars in Wendy's parking lots, now given an official soundtrack.

The surprise for devoted listeners is the cast: Wendy's recruited vocalists from across the metalcore, post-hardcore and pop-punk world. Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire and Anberlin sings on "She Said She Didn't Want Fries," Chloe Kinnon of Winona Fighter on "Salt in the Wound," Shane Told of Silverstein on "I Miss the Sunroom," Beau Bokan of Blessthefall on "The Best Combo Meal on the Worst Night of My Life," Derek DiScanio of State Champs on "It's Not a Phase, It's a 10PC," and Kat Leon of Holy Wars on "My Frosty's Funeral." Executive producer Matt Squire — whose credits include Panic! at the Disco, All Time Low, Simple Plan and Sum 41 — wrote and produced the songs, according to USA Today.

Wendy's says it partnered with respected artists from across the emo community to produce a soundtrack "made by real musicians, not generated by AI," with production that stays true to the genre. Squire framed the project sincerely: "Emo has always been about the small moments that feel huge. A younger generation is discovering that now, and the older fans never stopped feeling it. Enjoying a Wendy's Frosty in a parking lot might sound like a small moment, but everybody's had a night where that was the only thing that went right." The move rides emo and pop-punk's cultural resurgence, the company says, and follows its 2018 hip-hop mixtape "We Beefin'?".

The album converts Wendy's brand language into emo confessions, with lines like "Always Fresh, Never Frozen," "Square Burgers Saved My Soul" and "It's Not a Phase, It's a 10PC." Fan rituals become heartbreak, per Wendy's: "Dipped Fries, A Salty Sweet Goodbye" and "My Frosty's Funeral." Loudwire reports that on "I Miss the Sunroom," Silverstein's Shane Told mourns Wendy's locations dropping the sunroom feature once built into restaurant fronts, while Blessthefall's Beau Bokan sings "Parking lots and Frosty spoons will get me over you." Edge shows up too, with lines like "Redheads Treat You Better" and "No Happy in Your Meal Anymore."

The teaser — a Wendy logo makeover with side-swept bangs, black eyeliner and black hair bows, posted September 21–22 with the caption "It was never a phase" — drew wide attention. Yahoo relays that Motionless in White commented, "We were really hoping for album of the year, but there is absolutely no competing with this," and that the official Vans Warped Tour account wrote, "Sprinting to myspace to change our profile song." USA Today notes one Instagram user riffed "Cut my fries in two pieces," a nod to Papa Roach's "Last Resort," while The Noise demanded "a mosh pit in the Wendy's parking lot ASAP." A blessthefall fan wrote that if the band doesn't play the track on tour, they'll "cry in a Wendy's parking lot."

The EP is now streaming everywhere, including YouTube Music, Tidal and Audiomack according to USA Today, and on Wendy's YouTube channel per VICE. Wendy's says it will follow with music videos, behind-the-scenes content and more "ways to fully embrace your parking lot era" on its social channels.
